For as long as I can remember, baking and cooking have been one of my favorite things. I grew up watching my mom bake all the time. Seriously, ALL.THE.TIME. She would make cupcakes to bring into school to celebrate birthdays, fresh muffins from scratch for a random Tuesday breakfast, and was celebrated each Christmas for her cinnamon rolls. I always thought this was a normal thing until I got older and realized that it wasn’t. Boxed cakes, store bought bakery items and the loss of tradition is a reality for most.
I was a Graphic Design major in college. My dream was to get into advertising and head somewhere like NYC or San Francisco. It was near graduation that I realized my true love and passion was baking. Taking something simple like butter, sugar and flour and transforming them into something nostalgic and magical, artistic and beautiful was a true dream of mine. I headed off the Culinary School and graduated with a Baking and Pastry Degree. Never had I been more fulfilled.
A few years, a thriving wedding business (www.mintweddings.com), and children! later, I find myself back in the kitchen creating. It is still my passion, it is the MOST fun, and you can never ruin anyone’s day with cookies! xo
